Marina Sirtis Signs On to First ‘Fan-Funded Series’

Marina Sirtis

UK-born Greek actress Marina Sirtis, best known for her portrayal of Deanna Troi on “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, has just signed up for a groundbreaking new “actor-created, fan funded series”.

The show, called “Internity”, is described by its creators as “Scrubs meets E.R. and they go to Comic-Con together.”

The star of the show is a young intern named Dr. Nate, who tries to lead an odd mix of medics surviving “intern hell” at a Portland teaching hospital.

The Comic-Con aspect of the show comes in because Dr. Nate is also a pop culture fan who has frequent fantasy flashbacks. For these sequences, the creators are going to have the actual cast members from old TV shows, movies, and Comic-Cons appear as weekly guest stars.

Sirtis plays Dr. Camila, a 50 year-old intern who decides to start medical school after a messy divorce, and ends up working for a boss just a few years older than her son.

Sirtis has plenty of praise for the proposed series, saying “What I find most exciting about this show is, it represents life. It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s an adventure. It’s excellent.”

Joey Adams, Jim Beaver, and Carla Jimenez will be joining Sirtis on the show if it airs. The catch is that the show has to reach its full funding on IndieGoGo to get on the air.

Creator and star Joey Adams was shocked when so many acclaimed actors agreed to sign up to the first “actor-created show” before it was even funded; he hopes the actors’ fans will support the IndieGoGo campaign so the show can get on TV soon.

If you want to support this unique new show, and have a hand in producing a Hollywood series, donate at “Internity”‘s IndieGogo page.
