Zoe Kazan Cast as Lead in Lena Dunham’s New Comedy

Greek-American actress Zoe Kazan was just cast in the lead in Lena Dunham’s new comedy “Max”.

After the success of “Girls”, Lena Dunham has created a 1960s comedy pilot for HBO which focuses on the new-wave feminism of the time and a magazine writer who is trying to find where she fits in within this new world.

The writer, Maxine Woodruff (Kazan), is described by Deadline Hollywood as “an enthusiastic, if misguided, low-level magazine employee who stumbles into the forefront of a civil rights movement both she and the world may not be ready for.”

Zoe Kazan was actually brought on board to replace Lisa Joyce, who left Dunham’s show to focus on her role in HBO’s “Insecure”.

Kazan and Dunham have previously worked together to produce a comic short in which Zoe played the first woman president. Hopefully their new collaboration turns out just as funny as their last project!
