The thriller is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, and this will mark the second time Vardalos works with Rhimes after her guest star appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy”.
On the show, Vardalos’ role will be a bit of a departure from her usual characters, as she will be playing a neurotic yet intimidating counterfeiter. It is still unclear how her character will interact with lead Alice Vaughan, played by Mireille Enos (best known for her work as an investigative police officer on “The Killing”).
Vardalos has been getting more and more roles on high-profile shows working with Hollywood heavyweights. Before booking her role on “The Catch”, Vardalos completed filming for a major recurring role on Epix’s “Graves” opposite Nick Nolte.
“The Catch” premieres on March 24, 2016; if you want to see Nia Vardalos in action in the meantime, go to theaters and see “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2”.
