If you haven’t heard of the award-winning “House of Cards” on Netflix by now, you are missing out. The all-star cast, which includes Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, led by David Fincher as the executive producer of the series, has gained critical acclaim from almost every reviewer and audience in the world.
And as was recently pointed out, the show has featured 12 Greeks in its four season span!
Those who appeared onscreen include Greek actor Peter Chiamardas, who guest starred in 3 episodes last year, George Kardulias (known for “Minority Report”), who guest starred in 4, respected journalist George Stephanopoulos playing himself in one episode, and Claudia Castellanos who played a Russian reporter.
Plenty of Greeks were involved behind the scenes as well, as has usually become the case in Hollywood; if you don’t believe it, wait for the end of the next movie you see and you will be shocked at the number of Greek names that appear in the credit sequence.
The most well known name involved is producer and production manager Peter Mavromates (who has worked on high-profile hits like “Gone Girl” and “Thor”), who co-produced 26 episodes.
Other notable names that helped the series come together include visual effects specialist Christopher Doulgeris, graphic designer Eleni Diamantopoulos, costume designer Vivian Pavlos, set costumer Erin Stamos, makeup artist Vasilios Tanis, and set production assistant Nicholas Pelecanos.
The show appears on Netflix, headed by Ted Sarandos, who has spearheaded the move towards more original content for the service and more creative freedom for the directors and actors working on those shows.
