Yorgos Lanthimos‘ career continues to take off in Hollywood as he has managed to cast A-list stars Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell in his new movie, “The Killing of a Sacred Deer”.
Lanthimos worked with Farrell before in the critically-acclaimed film “The Lobster”, so he seems to be forming a good partnership with the Irish actor. “The Lobster” took home a Jury Prize at Cannes, so the director’s new venture is attracting a lot of attention in Hollywood.
Kidman and Farrell play a married couple who try to bring a teenager into their family, but the decision turns out poorly. Though the premise seems simple, Lanthimos usually lends a lot of complexity and dark overtones to his films (including “Dogtooth”) that are sure to be present in this movie as well.
Yorgos Lanthimos will be working with his longtime collaborator Efthimis Filippou.
There is no shortage of projects in his future as well, as he is currently developing a historical drama based on the reign of Queen Anne in England, called “The Favourite”, along with Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Olivia Colman. Colman and Weisz also worked with Lanthimos previously in “The Lobster”.
