In an article she wrote on “The Huffington Post”, she stated that she usually just ignores such gossip and doesn’t even want to address it, but felt she had to speak up about dangerous trends in the media.
She had strong words for the tabloid reporters who constantly hassle her and write false stories about her: “For the record, I am not pregnant. What I am is fed up. I’m fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of ‘journalism,’ the ‘First Amendment’ and ‘celebrity news'” she wrote.
Aniston also correctly points out that criticism of female actress reflects wider problems with women in society, and she emphasizes that “the objectification and scrutiny we put women through is absurd and disturbing.”
Female celebrities like Jennifer Aniston have been speaking up and fighting back in the last few years against being harshly criticized by the media, getting unequal pay, not having enough roles in Hollywood (especially for older women), and not being represented proportionately in the film industry.
