Dave Bautista Joins Forces With Sylvester Stallone in ‘Escape Plan 2’

Movie offers keep pouring in for wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista, who was just cast opposite Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming “Escape Plan 2” right after joining Jodie Foster in “Hotel Artemis”.

The original “Escape Plan” featured action heavyweights Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a man whose job it is to break out of prisons in order to reveal their security flaws. In the first film, Breslin is double-crossed and sent to a high-security prison from which he must make his most daring escape yet.

Though “Escape Plan” only made $25 million in the US, it made over $100 million overseas (especially in Asia), which makes sense considering it was a US-China co-production.

The overseas box office made producers Mark Canton and Zack Schiller create a sequel to the film, but since Schwarzenegger wouldn’t be returning, they wanted an equally charming and affable lead opposite Stallone. They found their man in Dave Bautista.

Producers are hoping to start filming later in the spring in Atlanta.

Bautista’s career continues to soar, and the roles he has lined up opposite well-known A-list names are sure to bring him more exposure than ever. Check him out in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” this summer.
