Michael Angelakos Broadcasts Bipolar Treatment on FB Live

Michael Angelakos has been very open about his battle with bipolar disorder in recent years, and he has now given fans a very in-depth look at his struggle by broadcasting his latest treatment on Facebook Live.

Angelakos’ treatment, known as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), is noninvasive and approved for severe depression, though still less common and not yet approved for bipolar disorder, though its shown some promising results.

The musician and lead singer of the band Passion Pit is a vocal supporter of removing stigma from mental health issues and helping sufferers seek treatment. Part of the reason he wanted to broadcast his experience, as he puts it, is that “if we don’t talk about it, it’s quite literally why no one understands what we’re talking about. I don’t have anything to hide. I think this is an amazing treatment.”

Angelakos then goes on to describe the manic episode he has been suffering from for the past few days, and the effect it has had on him. He also took several questions from fans regarding his disorder and treatment during the live stream, and received an outpouring of gratitude and love from many who thanked him for being so open and candid about his disorder and treatment.

Above, you can see the video Angelakos made after his TMS treatment to his fans.
