Sophia Amoruso Reacts to Netflix Canceling ‘Girlboss’

Sophia Amoruso

After just one season on Netflix, “Girlboss” has been canceled, and Sophia Amoruso had something to say about it. Though she was disappointed with the cancellation, she went on Instagram to express some relief at the show’s end.

Amoruso got on Instagram story to say, “While I’m proud of the work we did, I’m looking forward to controlling my narrative from here on out. It was a good show, and I was privileged to work with incredible talent, but living my life as a caricature was hard even if only for two months. Yes, I can be difficult. No, I’m not a d**k.”

“Girlboss” was based on the Nasty Gal founder’s book of the same name; Britt Robertson played Sophia Amoruso’s character in the 13-episode series. Many critics and viewers accused the character as portrayed of being ‘unlikeable’.

Sophia also added to her statement, “It will be nice to someday tell the story of what’s happened in the last few years.”

The cancellation of “Girlboss” comes as another blow to Amoruso’s brand after Nasty Gal’s recent bankruptcy. However, Amoruso continues to be quite active even after resigning as CEO of the company she built, so we will wait and see what else she has in store.
