Tina Fey returned to the “Weekend Update” segment of “Saturday Night Live” in a big way this past Saturday, as she went on a huge tirade about the white nationalist protests in Charlottesville.
The actress decided to express her frustration by stuffing cake into her mouth while making points about the uneven police reaction to predominantly white marches as opposed to those protests undertaken by Native Americans at Standing Rock.
Her bit was controversial to some, as many stated that Fey showed her white privilege by ultimately saying that protesters should do nothing, while others pointed out that the entire segment was intended as satire, and interpreting it in this literal way was missing the point.
