Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Join Telethon for Hurricane Relief

With Houston still reeling from the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, and Hurricane Irma battering it’s way through the Caribbean islands and southern Florida, many celebrities have come together for a charity telethon that will benefit those injured, displaced, and otherwise affected by the recent natural disasters.

The telethon, called “Hand in Hand”, will be airing on September 12 at 8 PM ET on multiple channels, including ABC, Bravo, CBS, Fox, HBO, MTV, NBC, and others.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, who are always active in charitable organizations and causes, have joined the telethon in order to help raise money for the two hurricanes’ victims. Other well-known personalities who will be making appearances including Justin Bieber, Stephen Colbert, Robert DeNiro, Drake, Dwayne Johnson, Richard Here, Julia Roberts, Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, and a slew of other famous figures.

Corporations have been donating generously to the cause in advance, with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation giving $5 million to the telethon and Verizon contributing $2.5 million.

Volunteers at call centers around the country will be active during telethon hours to take pledges from citizens across the US in order to help those affected. In addition to appearances and calls for pledges from the above celebrities, some will be performing on the night of the telethon as well.
