“Everything is Wonderful”, a film by Pia Mechler which stars director Pia and Greek actress Tonia Sotiropoulou, premiered today, Friday, October 20 in New York. The film was screened at AMC Loews on 34th Street in Manhattan as part of the prestigious Chelsea Film Festival.
“Everything is Wonderful” follows two female leads, Maria (Tonia Sotiropoulou) and Lena (Pia Mechler), who are recent European immigrants to New York, from Greece and Germany respectively. Lena seems to have it all on the outside, however she finds herself bored with her life; Maria is a former Greek soap opera star disillusioned with her dream of becoming an actress in New York.
After Lena receives a shock when she finds out her husband cheats on her, Maria and Lena decide to take a tremendous risk to change their lives and find some different meaning. After a crazy week partying and dealing with outside pressures to have “normal” lives and find steady relationships, their story takes a surprising turn.
