Greek-French Composer Alexandre Desplat Wins His Second Oscar (Video)

Talented Greek-French composer Alexandre Desplat just won his second Oscar for Best Original Score in “The Shape of Water”.

Desplat had previously won an Academy Award for his work on “Grand Budapest Hotel” in 2015. In that year, he had actually been nominated for Best Original Score for two separate movies: “Grand Budapest Hotel” and “The Imitation Game”.

Watch his acceptance speech below:

He was the first composer to be nominated for two scores in the same year since John Williams in 1977.

The Best Original Score win hardly comes as a surprise, since Desplat already won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA earlier this year for his work on “The Shape of Water”.

The film marks the second time Desplat worked with director Guillermo del Toro; their first collaboration was the “Trollhunters” TV series.
