Dave Bautista Publicly Slams Disney for Firing Director James Gunn

Dave Bautista is publicly shaming Disney for firing popular “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn over inappropriate comments made years ago on social media.

The entire cast of the popular Marvel franchise came together to sign a letter making it clear they were opposed to Gunn’s firing; they started their statement saying, “we fully support James Gunn”.

The letter goes on to say, “there is little due process in the court of public opinion. James is likely not the last good person to be put on trial. Given the growing political divide in this country, it’s safe to say instances like this will continue, although we hope Americans from across the political spectrum can ease up on the character assassinations and stop weaponizing mob mentality.”

Gunn’s comments had been discovered years ago, and he had already apologized to Disney for his bad judgment in making the offensive jokes. However, alt-right figure Mike Cernovich dredged the statements back up on social media in order to start a campaign of “character assassination” against the director, as the “Guardians” actors called it in their letter.

Bautista was having none of it, repeatedly and consistently going on Twitter rants to both defend Gunn’s character and shame those who would support his firing. According to the Greek-Filipino actor, Gunn was “one of the most loving, caring, good-natured people [he] has ever met”.

Even with the actors’ support of Gunn, Disney chairman Alan Horn made it clear he would not be re-hiring Gunn soon.
