After a crew member fell to his death during the filming of the new Fred Rogers’ biopic “You Are My Friend”, starring Tom Hanks, the movie was temporarily shut down.

The tragic accident happened when sound mixer James Emswiller, 61 years old, went up to a balcony on set for a smoke break. After others on set heard a noise, they investigated to find that Emswiller had fallen to his death.

While Emswiller’s death is being investigated by law enforcement and the Sony corporation, filming of the Fred Rogers’ biopic has been stopped. At the moment, the evidence points to Emswiller being alone on the balcony before he fell.

The experienced sound mixer had a long and successful career in Hollywood, even winning an Emmy in 2015 for his work on “Bessie”, a series starring Queen Latifah.

“You Are My Friend” is set to be released on November 1, 2019.
