Billy Zane has been cast as legendary Hollywood actor Marlon Brando in the new indie film, “Waltzing with Brando”.
The Greek-American star will also be producing the movie behind the scenes. Though the story follows the famous actor during the period between 1969 to 1974, when he starred in iconic movies such as “The Godfather” and “Last Tango in Paris”, it will focus more on Brando’s personal, rather than professional life.
“Waltzing with Brando” is actually based on a memoir by Bernard Judge, Brando’s architect. The A-list actor chose Judge, a little-known but high-minded LA architect, to build an ecologically perfect retreat on a tiny Pacific island.
In the memoir, Judge looks back fondly on the time he spent with Brando on the small island, helping Brando build his ideal retreat and getaway far away from the limelight.
Bill Fishman has been chosen to write and direct the movie, which is scheduled to shoot later in 2019. Fishman already worked with Zane as an executive producer on the well-received 1993 Western movie, “Posse”.
The rest of the movie still needs to be cast, including the main role of Bernard Judge.
Zane has been experiencing a great resurgence in Hollywood lately. He recently won the Best Actor award at the Golden Movie Awards in London for his role in “Lucid”, and stars along Sean Bean in the street-racing drama “Curfew”, available on Sky.
