Chef Maria Loi was the guest of honor on the popular morning show “Live With Kelly and Ryan” on January 11, showing the audience how to make their meals healthier using elements from Greek cooking.
The show included a slew of helpful tips from restauranteur and chef Loi on what she calls “healthy Greek swaps”. These swaps include using extra virgin olive oil instead of butter, and Greek yogurt in the place of fattier, heavier ingredients such as sour cream or mayonnaise.
Since many people make New Years resolutions which involve living a healthier lifestyle, the show was sure to help many home cooks out there looking for better options for their food in 2019.
Loi is a big proponent of healthy Greek ingredients and incorporating them into your cuisine, as she does in her midtown Manhattan restaurant, Loi Estiatorio. Her cookbooks, including “The Greek Diet: Look and Feel Like a Greek God or Goddess and Lose up to Ten Pounds in Two Weeks” have sold very well. The Mediterranean diet has definitely come into favor all over the U.S., since it promotes smaller waistlines and a healthier body.
