Alexander Payne has signed up to direct a new horror comedy with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay producing.
Though the filmmaker has handled dark comedies before, it will be his first time approaching the horror genre. The film is titled “The Menu”, andĀ focuses on high-end foodie culture.
We only know the very basics of the story at the moment. A foodie couple travels to a remote island to visit an exclusive world-renowned restaurant with a famous chef. However, things quickly start to unravel and the island is not what it first appears to be.
Ferrell is attached only as a producer at the moment, not as a cast member. McKay currently has three Oscar nominations for “Vice”, so his involvement will definitely bring even more interest to the film.
Payne’s last film, “Downsizing”, did not do well at the box office. The Omaha-based director now seems to be trying something new with his next project. Let’s see how “The Menu” turns out.
