Composer and master musician Yanni will be the first performer for the new “In Residence on Broadway” series, performing May 29 to June 2.
The show will be called “Pure Yanni: An Intimate Evening With Yanni and his Piano.” It will take place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
The series is sponsored by a partnership between Live Nation, The Araca Group, and EBG (Entertainment Benefits Group). It will be composed of solo and concert shows taking place on various Broadway stages.
The idea for a musician residency series on Broadway came after several successful concerts took place on the New York theater scene. “Springsteen on Broadway”, starring iconic musician Bruce Springsteen, is probably the most high-profile example.
Although Yanni will be the first performer, there will be many others coming after him for the spring/summer season of the residency. Live Nation will be making announcements about the slate of performers in the coming weeks.
