LA Greek Film Festival Announces 2019 Lineup

Los Angeles Greek Film Festival

The 13th annual Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF), which will run June 3-9, has just announced its 2019 lineup.

Out of hundreds of submissions, the festival narrowed down its selection of films by Greek and Greek diaspora filmmakers to 47 choices.

The opening night film, titled “Meltem,” features one of Europe’s top rising stars, Daphne Patakia, and is directed by first-time feature film director Basile Doganis.  It will be screened at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood.

The closing night film, titled “Her Job”, is a Greek-French production directed by Nikos Labot. It will be followed by the annual Orpheus Award ceremony.

Artistic and Festival Director Aristotle Katopodis said “LAGFF is committed to exploring new avenues and collaborations in the world of film. We continue to encourage and expose new filmmakers and offer new educational programs as we embark on our 13th year. Our slate of 47 feature films includes many first-time directors and multiple-awarded films, while four of our main films were created by women.”

Major sponsors of the film festival include the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Onassis Foundation. Other sponsors include ECOS, the UCLA Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
