7th International Project Discovery Forum Showcases New Filmmakers at 2019 LAGFF

Los Angeles Greek Film Festival

The 2019 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF) will include the 7th International Project Discovery Forum (IPDF), a four-day industry workshop and development lab for new filmmakers.

The forum provides professional feedback and support for filmmakers looking to bring their ideas to the big screen.

As IPDF Director Araceli Lemos says, “IPDF provides a venue where dialogue is encouraged and creative collaborations are formed. We build a network of creative professionals from
Greece, the Balkans and the U.S. that share the desire to preserve film as an artistic expression, always searching for new ways of story telling through image and sound.”

The program also seeks to bridge the gap between the independent cinemas of both the US as well as Greece and the Balkans.

Past LAGFF entries and winners, including “Son of Sofia”, “Noah Land”, and “Broadway”, have been developed thanks to the IPDF. Some of these films have gone on to win awards at prestigious festivals including Tribeca, or are currently being developed at Sundance and Cannes (“Broadway”).

Several projects will be presented at the forum this year, by directors including Elina Psykou, Artemis Anastasiadou, and Cat Papadimitriou. Check out the full list of IPDF projects.

After the end of the development lab, each film’s representative will show an audiovisual presentation of the project to a jury of professionals. Awards for the IPDF will be handed out during the Orpheus Awards ceremony at the end of LAGFF.
