Jennifer Aniston Receives People’s Icon Award

At the 2019 People’s Choice Awards, Greek-American actress and former “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston won the People’s Icon Award.

Aniston has been an American sweetheart for decades, and now at 50 years old, has a career that’s still going strong.

She worked together with Reese Witherspoon on “The Morning Show”, one of Apple TV’s very first premieres as a streaming service, and recently starred alongside Adam Sandler in “Murder Mystery” for Netflix.

In fact, long-time friend and collaborator Sandler was the one who gave Aniston the award.

He showered her with praise in a funny introduction speech, before announcing her as the second recipient of the People’s Icon Award, which was established in 2018. The first one was awarded to Melissa McCarthy.

The actress continues to be extremely popular among audiences. This was shown recently when she joined Instagram and “broke the Internet” due to millions of people trying to follow her within a few hours.

Aniston had plenty of jokes of her own to make on stage, in addition to making a touching “Friends” tribute. She said, “we don’t do this for the critics, or each other, or to make our parents proud. We do it for the money! No, I’m kidding. We do it for you guys, the fans”.
