According to court documents obtained in Los Angeles, Kelly Clarkson has filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock.
The two met in 2006, but didn’t become a couple until 2012. They have two children together, River Rose and Remington Alexander. Blackstock also has two other children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth.
News of the divorce came as a shock to many fans of Clarkson as the couple seemed happy together, frequently sharing loving videos of their family life during quarantine. Throughout the period of lockdown due to the coronavirus, Clarkson also shared many heartwarming videos and songs to cheer up her fans who were similarly stuck at home.
Clarkson has not publicly commented on the reasons for the divorce, although the court papers cited “irreconcilable differences.” In addition to being her husband, Blackstock is also currently the singer’s manager.
The popular singer and show host has two beautiful children and a successful career to keep her busy while she goes through what is no doubt a very difficult time.
