Tina Fey has teamed up with her frequent writing partner Robert Carlock to bring a new sitcom to the world of comedy, titled “Girls5Eva”, and she has just cast musical genius Sara Bareilles as the lead.
Fey will be producing the show for NBCU’s Peacock network. “Girls5eva” follows a one-hit-wonder girls’ group from the 90s years after their success. They are now married, with kids, mortgages, and regular jobs.
However, a chance event leads Dawn, played by Sara Bareilles, to reunite the band for another shot at stardom.
In addition to winning a Grammy award, Bareilles has received several Grammy, Tony, and Emmy nominations in the course of her career. After her breakout hit “Love Song” in 2007, she also wrote the music for, and acted, in the Broadway musical “Waitress”. Bareilles was also featured in NBC’s live performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar”.
We can’t wait to see what the ultra talented team of Fey and Bareilles bring to the small screen in “Girls54eva”.
