“The Kelly Clarkson Show” will be premiering its second season on September 21 with a virtual audience, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Though Kelly Clarkson‘s popular talk show was renewed for a second season in 2019, producers were still unsure when on-set filming could resume after the outbreak in 2020. During the spring and summer of 2019, Clarkson taped several shows from her home in Montana.

However, like many other shows slowly returning to set in LA, the show came up with a creative solution to make filming as safe as possible: film with a virtual audience. “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will still be taped on the Universal Studios lot in Los Angeles, and will feature both live and virtual interviews.

However, instead of forgoing an audience entirely, as many other talk shows are doing, people will get a chance to interact with Kelly from their own home.

Fans will be able to reserve a seat for each taping of the show. As a press release for the show’s return stated, “for the first time ever, fans will have the chance to get a front-row seat as part of the show’s virtual audience from the comfort of their own home”.

In the run-up to the show’s second season premiere, five more original episodes of the show will be aired the week of September 14. Tune in on NBC on September 21 to see Kelly live in action for a second season.
